Caffeine a prodigy for skin
Our morning starts with a double shot of a caramel-infused mochaccino, a strong cup of tea (or whatever your order of choice happens to be), imagine how you will feel if it misses out someday. The reason for your craving for the same is because of the caffeine part it carries with it. You'll be delighted to know that there are other aspects of your life into which you can introduce a dose of caffeine. Namely, your skincare regimen. Caffeine has been used in products for years, and on a basic level, it makes sense. Just imagine what taking a few sips of your morning coffee does to you. Those early sips strikeyou up, boost your energy, and aid your concentration—so surely a few drops of a caffeinated serum or eye cream would do the same thing, isin’t it?
Interestingly, caffeine does play a role in skincare and has certain properties that may actually be beneficial. The coffee bean has antioxidant properties, similar to other berries, which may positively affect the aging process and decrease the production of reactive oxygen species and free radicals thereby keep youthful skin for longer. Further, it helps to decrease the damage from ultraviolet radiation and may even have a role in promoting hair growth through its effect on the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. With these miracular hidden effects of penetrating the tough skin barrier and its high biologic activity it is increasingly found in makeup, cosmetics, creams, and cosmeceuticals.
